Welcome from the Headmaster

 Dear Homeschooling Family,

It thrills me when parents take seriously the scriptural directive from Deuteronomy 6:

5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

I hope and pray that we at Good Shepherd School can minister to the spiritual, academic, social needs of home educating families.    I seek to be able to offer you support and encouragement, and urge you to get involved in our lending library, apologetics training, community service opportunities, co-op, and sports offerings.

The decision to educate your children at home is an important responsibility and should be made prayerfully.    Proverbs 3 contains my entire M.O. for educating my children:    What is education without “trusting in the Lord with your whole heart, and leaning not on (our) own understanding?” (v. 5)  and training them in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding (.v 19-20)?  I hope that is something you will ponder.

Yours in equipping our children to impact our world for Christ,

John Daniels,  BSEd., M. Div. , D. Min,

Headmaster

Thank you for considering GSS.    We seek to provide your family with opportunities for fellowship,  academic enrichment, and support.   As teaching parents, your home is a satellite of GSS and you are faculty members.   Therefore, it is important for you to feel like our school is a good “fit” for your family.     Cathedral of the Cross has a 31-year reputation for providing academic excellence and I am honored to carry on in this tradition.

It’s my prayer that our students are not just equipped for “the kingdom of Harvard, but for the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Charles Martin, former headmaster of St. Alban’s, Washington, DC)

For homeschooling information please read the Bulletin carefully.  Feel free to call me at 836-0979.
