Activities & Services Offered by GSS
Faculty Orientation is a required meeting for both new and returning faculty members (parent educators) held every August. At orientation, families have the opportunity to find out more about home education in Alabama, testing options for GSS, sign up for field trips and get information on support meetings, co-ops, band, sports, and more!
For your convenience, we also offer handouts from orientation on our website -- just click the above link.
As the Lord provides, GSS also offers our home educating families a wide variety of activities. We try to keep all families updates via our Activities page, our e-mail newsletter, and printed material.
Sports Good Shepherd School is honored to be able to partner with Cathedral Christian School to allow our enrolled students in grades K-8 the opportunity to participate in co-ed basketball and girls' cheerleading, in collaboration with the Birmingham Private School Basketball League.
Good Shepherd Hall is our educational cooperative for students age N-5th grade. For more information, click on "Homeschool Co-Op". Subscribe to our announcement list for information on other tutorials and co-ops.
Field Trips Many GSS families go on group trips through OATHE .
Park Days Those who want to enjoy an outside picnic and merriment meet at the park behind the Trussville Library on the first Friday of each month at 11:00 a.m.
Cross & Shield Usually the group shares a potluck dinner, and talks on everything from Classical Christian education to Birmingham homeschool co-ops and tutorials are offered.
